Joseph's distinguished lineage traces back to Kekuʻiapoiwa II, mother of King Kamehameha the Great, and Henry Kanihonui, a Kingdom of Hawaii subject who signed the Kūʻē Petition and lived in Wai'anae. This rich heritage deeply informs his commitment to his community.
Throughout his military career, Joseph held multiple high-ranking positions, demonstrating exceptional leadership and a deep sense of duty. His dedication extends beyond his service, as he has actively contributed to his Wai'anae community as a former Neighborhood Board Member and the Wai'anae Small Boat Harbormaster.

Carmen Guzman-Simpliciano is a key leader at Kingdom Pathways, dedicated to environmental stewardship and community development. A proud descendant of Umi a Liloa and the House of Keawe, she integrates her rich cultural heritage into her work.
At Kingdom Pathways, Carmen oversees event planning, website design, and social media, ensuring each project reflects the community's vision. She leads efforts to bridge gaps between various state and county departments to restore the wetlands around Poka’ї Bay, improve water quality, and protect marine life. Carmen also collaborates with local schools and organizations on water quality monitoring and coral restoration projects. She advocates for community health and quality of life issues, including cesspool conversion, to ensure water safety and cleanliness.
Carmen is deeply involved in protecting the ‘Ua’u Kani nesting grounds and promoting sustainable practices. Her passion for environmental and cultural heritage drives her to engage in educational outreach and advocate for meaningful change across Wai’anae.
Cee-Jay Simpliciano, a recent summa cum laude graduate of Waianae High School with early college credits, is the Aloha 'Aina Youth Coordinator and Ambassador for Kingdom Pathways. She leads and assists in beach and park cleanups, participates in reforestation projects, and manages on-site registration and food services during cleanups.
