The Waiʻanae Community Health Assessment gathered 111 resident responses across the 96792 area through mail, phone, and online/in-person outreach.
Developed in collaboration with Ward Research and Pirkle Epidemiology & Evaluation, the assessment combined professional survey methodology with community-led engagement to ensure credible and meaningful findings.
Community members shared lived experiences related to air quality, water conditions, swimmer’s ear, asthma, gastrointestinal illness, and proximity to environmental sites such as Pōkaʻi Bay and Mailiʻiliʻi Stream.
Residents did more than complete a survey they contributed critical data, local knowledge, and environmental observations that now inform advocacy, agency engagement, and future funding efforts. This project connects human health outcomes to environmental realities and strengthens the case for community-led solutions in Waiʻanae.
Below, you can access both the Community Health Survey Report and the Environmental Assessment Report for deeper review and transparency.
