Forestry Consultant

Reports To: Program Director

Kingdom Pathways is a Native Hawaiian, community-driven non-profit committed to environmental restoration, cultural preservation, and social justice in Waiʻanae, Oʻahu. Through hands-on learning, restoration projects, and advocacy, we empower the next generation of leaders to mālama ʻāina (care for the land) and foster sustainable solutions for Hawaiʻi. Our Ho‘oulu Lāhui Project focuses on reforesting public spaces with native landscapes, revitalizing cultural practices, and engaging the community in environmental stewardship.


Job Summary:

The Ho‘oulu Lāhui Project is dedicated to restoring native forests, increasing climate resilience, and strengthening cultural ties to the land in Wai‘anae. We seek a Forestry Consultant to provide expertise in native plant restoration, land stewardship, and sustainable forestry practices to ensure the success and longevity of this initiative.


Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance on native tree selection, planting, and ecosystem restoration.
  • Develop sustainable land management strategies to enhance biodiversity and protect wai (water resources).
  • Support community engagement efforts, including workshops on native forestry and conservation practices.
  • Assist with monitoring and evaluating the growth and health of reforested areas.
  • Advise on climate resilience practices to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project.


Experience Required:

We are looking for a passionate, community-driven  individual who believes in mālama ʻāina and empowering people through knowledge. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Background in Forestry, Conservation, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Experience in native Hawaiian forest restoration and invasive species management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in ecosystem restoration.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with community partners.
  • Familiarity with Hawai‘i’s environmental policies and conservation best practices.


Schedule:

The Consultant position will work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, and evenings depending on workshop and site inspection needs.
